The Luyha people, also known as Abaluhya, have a rich history that spans centuries. Traditionally, “Abaluhya” signifies “those of the same hearth,” reflecting our deep-rooted connections and shared identity. Historically, the Luyha clans, originating from regions around Lake Victoria, have faced numerous challenges, including colonial divisions that fragmented our communities across national borders.In Uganda, many Luyha clans have maintained their cultural practices and traditions despite these challenges. However, the lack of a unified platform has led to a disconnection among members of the Luyha community. The Ingo Obulala Association was founded to address this need for unity and representation. By bringing together all Luyha tribes in Uganda, we aim to create a cohesive community that celebrates our heritage while advocating for our collective rights and interests.
